In 2008, the Richard Blanchette and Sons Farm in La Présentation was struggling with hoof disease that was spreading and becoming uncontrollable within its herd. The excessive use of antibiotics led the bacteria responsible for this disease to develop resistance to them. Despite increasing the doses, it became impossible to achieve an optimal result. Discouraged by this vicious cycle, the farm owners began research to find an alternative solution and discovered, at the beginning of 2009, a range of Dutch products from the company IntraCare: the Intra Hoof-fit and Hoof-Sol range. They then tested the Gel and Spray on their ailing herd. The owners were pleased to find that the trial was successful on all levels: the disease subsided and no withdrawal period for the animal was necessary since the products are all antibiotic-free as well as non-toxic and safe for the animal, the environment, and humans. More than satisfied with this discovery, Yannick Blanchette, one of the farm’s shareholders, along with Eve Vadnais, parents of five children, Lorieve, Yanéric, Aivie, Yuric, and Yanovic, embarked on translating and marketing the Hoof-fit and Hoof-Sol products to promote them in French-speaking areas and share their benefits with fellow producers.
IntraCare has been developing solutions for Cattle, Poultry, and Pigs since 2002 and has built a distribution network in 92 countries worldwide. In the Netherlands, its country of origin, more than 80% of the 16,000 farms use Hoof-fit and Hoof-Sol products. This global success only encourages Eve and Yannick to develop the North American French-speaking market.
